Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Releases Revised 2008 Women's All-Academic Team

DENVER, Colo. -- 69 Collegiate Water Polo Association women’s water polo players were honored with All-America Academic honors as the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches posted a revised All-Academic team on August 15.  The amended list includes four CWPA athletes not previously listed on the July 23 posting.

In addition, nine CWPA programs were honored with Team Awards, including Harvard University which led the conference with a 3.40 grade point average.

Student-athletes were recognized in three levels: 3.2 to 3.4 GPA (Excellent), 3.41 to 3.7 GPA (Superior) and 3.71 to 4.0 (Outstanding).  The CWPA had 25 players honored in the Excellent category, 18 on the Outstanding list and 22 on the Superior roll.

In the team honors, the CWPA placed five teams in the Top 10 as Harvard University dropped down one spot from the previous list to second place with a 3.40 GPA, 0.14 behind new national leader Macalester College.  Mercyhurst College (3.38) tied for third on the list, Indiana University (3.29) and Gannon University (3.24) placed sixth and eighth, respectively, and Hartwick College (3.19) placed 10th. 

Overall, nine CWPA teams were honored as Bucknell University (13th, 3.19), Princeton University (21st, 3.02), George Washington University (23rd, 3.00) and the University of Michigan (29th, 2.82) also received honors.
