Hartwick's Kirsten Hudson & Brown's Stephanie Laing Named April 27 Northern Division Co-Players of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Hartwick College's Kirsten Hudson (Jr., Wellington, New Zealand/Sacred Heart) and Brown University's Stephanie Laing (Jr., Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) share the April 27 Northern Division Player of the Week award following their performances at the 2009 Eastern Championship on the campus of Harvard Unviersity.

Hudson factored in 17 of Hartwick's goals at the Eastern Championship to earn MVP and All-Tournament first team honors as she led the No. 14-ranked Hawks to the league championship game.  

A 2007 and 2008 All-America selection, she began the tournament with four goals and four assists in a 16-3 victory over the host Crimson, before adding three goals and three assists against Brown in a 10-6 win to break the 500-point mark for her career.  Hudson wrapped up the tournament with two goals and a helper versus Michigan as the Wolverines captured the Eastern title and the Collegiate Water Polo Association's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship with a 12-6 win.

The award marks Hudson's fifth Player of the Week nod this year as she previously earned the honor on February 2, February 9, March 2 and March 9.

Laing tallied her third Player of the Week award, following previous honors on February 16 and March 23, as she made 34 saves for the Bears to also earn All-Tournament first team honors at the Eastern Championship in leading No. 19 ranked Brown to a fourth place finish.

She made 11 saves in an 8-7 victory No. 16 Indiana University in the opening round, netted 14 in a 10-6 loss to Hartwickin the semifinals and wrapped up the tournament with nine in a 12-8 loss to No. 20 University of Maryland.
