Grove City Releases 2009 Schedule

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Wolverines of Grove City College will seek to capture the Western Division title and advance to the Eastern Championship this year as the program's 2009 women's water polo schedule was announced.

Grove City, which placed fifth in the division last year, will open the season on February 26-March 1 on a West Coast swing through California before travelling to the University of Michigan on March 7 for Western Division games against the host Wolverines, Penn State Erie-The Behrend College and Indiana University.

Following the home opener on March 13 versus Colorado College, the Wolverines will hit the road to take on Gannon University (March 27) in division action before returning to Grove City to square off with Mercyhurst College, Salem International University and Washington & Jefferson College (March 28) in the final home games of the season.

The team will then travel to Chatham College (March 31) before taking part in the Carthage College Midwest Invitational against Carthage, Wheaton College, Colorado, Macalester College, Washington & Jefferson, Penn State Behrend and Chatham (April 3-4) to wrap-up the regular season.

On April 18-19, the Wolverines will travel to the University of Indiana for the CWPA Western Division Championship with two automatic bids to the Eastern Championship at Harvard University (April 24-26) on the line.

If Grove City does not qualify for the Eastern Championship, the team will travel to the Division III Collegiate National Championship on the campus of the University of California-Santa Cruz (May 1-3).
