Maryland's Elina Goldenberg Named March 30 Southern Division Rookie of the Week

BRIDGPORT, Pa. -- Elina Goldenberg (Fr., Ft. Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) of the University of Maryland scored seven goals over the weekend, including a career-high five in an 11-9 win over No. 18 Indiana University, to earn the March 30 Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.

The honor marks her third weekly award from the CWPA as she previously garnered the February 16 Rookie of the Week and March 2 Player of the Week.

Playing at the Fluid Four Tournament versus No. 18 Indiana, No. 14 University of Michigan and Sonoma State University, she powered the Terrapins past Indiana.

Holding a tenuous 9-8 lead, Maryland put the game away against Indiana behind the play of Goldenberg who tallied two quick fourth-period goals to net the game-winner and an insurance marker.

In addition to her heroics versus the Hoosiers, she scored twice in a 10-9 loss to Sonoma State.
