Hopkins' Josh Kratz & Bucknell's Richie Hyden Named Oct. 27 Southern Division Co-Players of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins University's Josh Kratz (Sr., Lansdale, Pa./North Penn) and Bucknell University's Richie Hyden (So., Melbourne, Australia/Greenwich, Conn.) were named the October 27 Southern Division Co-Players of the Week for their performance during the period of October 20-26 in Collegiate Water Polo Association last week.
Kratz, who picks up his second Player of the Week award after earning the honor on September 15, scored 13 goals with seven assists and three steals in three matches to earn the Most Valuable Player Award for leading Johns Hopkins University to its 11th Division III Eastern title.
He led the team with five goals, three assists and two steals in a 22-8 win over Connecticut College in the opening round before tallying a hat-trick with an assist in a 20-5 victory over Penn State University Erie-The Behrend College. In the title game versus the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, he notched five goals, three assists, one steal and an ejection drawn as the Blue Jays rolled to a 20-15 victory.
Hyden netted six goals, five assists, one steal and three ejections drawn in two games against nationally ranked opposition to earn his first Player of the Week award.
Against No. 15 Princeton University he notched four goals and two assists in an 11-9 loss for his ninth game with four or more goals this season. In addition, he registered two goals and three assists in an 11-9 win over No. 18 Brown University as he now has 10 consecutive multi-goal games this year.
For the year, his 111 points mark the most by a Bison player since Kevin Permisohn tallied 112 in 2000.
