Kyle Gertridge

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Twenty Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) student-athletes garnered All-America honors as the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) released the 2009 Men's Varsity All-America Teams earlier today.  Overall, the conference received 11 Division I, three Division II and six Division III accolades with four First Team, two Second Team, one Third Team and 13 Honorable Mention nods.

On the Division I team, Princeton University's Mark Zalewski earned Third Team honors, while Bucknell University's Richie Hyden and Sean Coghlan, the United States Naval Academy's Luke Baldwin, Brown University's Svetozar Stefanovic, Princeton's Matt Hale, Iona College's Joe Przekota and Fordham University's Ali Arat earned Honorable Mention notice in the field.  In the cage, Brown's Kent Holland, Bucknell's Nick Donahue and Navy's Brett Rajchel also received Honorable Mention notice.

Mercyhurst College accounted for nearly half the players selected to the Division II First Team as Lakers' Alex Moggridge, Kane Ashton and goalie Andy Sekulski tallied All-America recognition.

In Division III, Johns Hopkins University's Kyle Gertridge picked up First Team honors to lead six CWPA All-America honorees.  Overall, the Blue Jays finished with three players on the All-America teams as Alex Whittam and goalie Jeremy Selbst  picked up Second Team honors.  Steve Hilty and goalie John Todd of Washington & Jefferson round out the All-America notices for the conference as they joined Colin McGarry of Pennsylvania State University-The Behrend College on the Honorable Mention Team.
