2010 Elite Eight Tournament Page
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The No. 18 Indiana University Hoosiers will compete in their home pool for the first time this season as they host one of the most anticipated events on the 2010 schedule, the Elite Eight, on March 6-7 at the Counsilman-Billingsley Aquatic Center.
The tournament features five teams currently ranked in the Varsity Top 20 Poll released by the CWPA.
Indiana will take on No. 18-ranked Brown Universityin the first round of the event at 11:10 a.m. on Saturday, with the victor moving on to face the winner of the No. 8 University of Michigan-Bucknell University matchup. The other side of the bracket features No. 11 Hartwick College-No. 20 Princeton University and the University of Maryland-Harvard University.
By agreement among the coaches, the consolation games, if possible, will be set up to prevent Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) divisional opponents (North, South, West) from playing each other.
The games will have significant
impact on the seedings for the CWPA Eastern Championship to
determine the league's automatic qualifier for the NCAA
Championship. All games, both non-conference and conference,
among CWPA institutions are weighed in determining the seeds for
the Eastern Championship set for April 30-May 2 at the University
of Maryland in College Park, Md.
