ERIE, Pa. -- Stefania Pontillo (Fr., Erie/McDowell) led the Behrend Lions in scoring with three goals while MaryEllen Spooner (Fr., Springfield/West Sprinfield) chipped in a pair of markers as the Penn State-Behrend Lions rallied for a 6-4 victory over the Chatham University Cougars at home in Junker Pool.
Anne Lawrence (So., State College/State College) rounded out the scoring for Penn State with a goal of her own as the Behrend Lions climbed out of an early 3-0 hole to come back and pick-up the victory in preparation for the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III Championship on Friday-Saturday, April 23-24.
Chatham got off to a quick start as they managed to score three early goals in the first period to take a 3-0 advantage into the second period. The Blue and White would get on the board in the second as they poured in a goal, but Chatham would answer that with a goal of their own and remain three goals ahead.
The third and fourth period is when the Behrend Lions took the game over as they scored five unanswered goals with two coming in the third and three in the fourth and final period.
For PSU-Behrend, the victory marks the program's fourth win of the season and second over Chatham following a 9-8 overtime win earlier in the year.
