Gannon University's Giovanni Martino Selected to Puerto Rico Junior National Water Polo Team
ERIE, Pa. -- Gannon University recruit Giovanni Martino will return to the pool as a member of the Puerto Rico Junior National Water Polo team that will be competing in the 2010 Union Americana de Natacion (UANA) Junior Pan American Cup on the campus of Gulliver Prep High School in Miami, Fla. on August 10-16.
The UANA Championships include North, South & Central America as well as the Caribbean Islands.
The 2009 Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel Player of the Year in 2009, will return to the pool after sitting out his senior season following his transfer from Northeast High School to St. Thomas Aquinas because he played for the South Florida Water Polo Club, which has the same coach as St. Thomas Aquinas. The Florida High School Athletic Association (FHSAA) has a rule that requires a one-year wait for eligibility after transferring to a school that has an affiliation to an athletic activity outside the school that the athlete participates in.
