Matt Hale

PRINCETON, N.J. --  Mark Zalewski (Sr., St. Louis, Mo./Kirwood), Matt Hale (Jr., Atherton, Calif./The Menlo School) and Eric Vreeland (Sr., Los Angeles, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) of the third-place Princeton University Tigers earn Second Team honors on the 2009 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men's Water Polo Championship All-Tournament Team.

Their selection equals the most East Coast players selected to the All-Tournament Team in the history of the NCAA Championship as Princeton garnered three Second Team selections in 2004 (Jamal Motlagh, Peter Sabbatini, John Stover) and St. Francis College received three Second Team picks (Gergely Fabian, Bogdon Petrovic, Botond Szalma) in 2005.

Zalewski, who led the Tigers with 57 goals on the year, tallied three goals in the tournament with a solo score in a 13-3 loss to No. 1-nationally ranked and National Champion the University of Southern California and a pair, including the game-winner, in a 6-5 victory over No. 6 Loyola Marymount University in the third place game.

Hale, who finishes the year with 19 goals, added scores against USC and LMU, while Vreeland also chipped in a pair of markers to raise his season scoring total to 22 goals.

No. 13-nationally ranked Princeton finished third at the NCAA Championship marking the second time in three years an East Coast team has finished third at the championship.
