BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Yale Univeristy's Gianna Forte (Fr., Malibu, Calif./Malibu) contributed 12 goals over four games to lead the Bulldogs to a 2-2 record and claim the April 11 New England Division Player of the Week award.
In her first collegiate competition, Forte not only started but served as the team's leading scorer during the tournament by accounting for over a third of the squad's 35 goals scored versus Dartmouth College (9-4 L), Boston College (10-6 L), Williams College (14-5 W) and Boston University (11-9 W OT).
Against BU in an upset, she scored one of the Bulldogs' overtime games as Yale rallied to claim a tie with the United States Coast Guard Academy and Williams for fourth place in the division's regular season standings. Due to tiebreakers, the Bulldogs claimed the fifth seed thanks in part to the squad's nine-goal victory over Williams.
The spread pushed Yale out to the lead in goal differential versus Williams as the Bulldogs claimed the No. 5 seed with a +3.5 differential in two meetings between the teams and following a 7-5 Williams win earlier in the season.
