BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The No. 1 team in the country is no surprise as national champion California Polytechnic State University finishes the season at No. 1 in the Week 16/May 12 & Final Women's National Collegiate Club Poll for the 2011 season.
The four-time defending National Champion Mustangs picked up all the first place votes to rank as a unanimous top selection by the pollsters. Overall, the Top 10 positions in the poll reflect the order of finish at the Women's National Collegiate Club Championship from over the weekend at the University of Notre Dame.
National runner-up the University of California-Davis concludes the season at No. 2, one spot higher than the Aggies ranked in the May 5 balloting. The University of Michigan, University of Oregon, University of Florida, University of California-Los Angeles, University of Notre Dame, Pennsylvania State University, Arizona State University and Dartmouth College follow Cal Poly and UC-Davis to round out the Top 10.
The University of Texas starts the final 10 positions in the poll as the Longhorns hold down the No. 11 position, with the University of California-Berkeley, University of California-Santa Cruz, University of Utah and University of Arizona rating at No. 12-15, respectively.
Texas A&M University, University of California-Santa Barbara, Middlebury College, University of California-San Diego and University of Central Florida conclude the nationally-ranked Top 20 teams.
