Villanova University's Dan Quigley Named October 24 Mid-Atlantic Division Co-Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Villanova University's Dan Quigley led his team to the 2011 Mid-Atlantic Division Championship to earn a share of the October 24 Mid-Atlantic Division Player of the Week award.  He shares the award with teammate Ben Mix.

In a series of must-win games for the Wildcats to clinch the No. 1 seed for the Mid-Atlantic Division Championship on October 22-23 at Villanova and to advance to the National Collegiate Club Championship on November 11-13 at Georgia Tech University, Quigley keyed the Blue & White to a 6-0 mark.

In the final regular season games of the year, he helped Villanova go 3-0 down the stretch against Lehigh University (9-7 W), Drexel University (15-6 W) and the University of Delaware (9-8 W). 

Against Drexel, Quigley dominated on the offensive end by drawing two fouls, scoring five goals and dishing out two assists in a nine-goal victory.  Versus Delaware in the regular season finale that would decide which team earned the No. 1 seed for the Mid-Atlantic Championship, he stepped up his game burying six goals with three ejections and two steals in a tight one-goal win.

At the Mid-Atlantic Division Championship tournament, he aided the Wildcats in defeating Millersville University (12-7 W) and Delaware (7-4 W) to set-up a meeting with and victory over the University of Pennsylvania (10-9 W) to claim the program's first division crown since back-to-back titles in 2003 and 2004.

The championship marks the fifth in Villanova men's collegiate club program history as the squad earned its first titles in 2000 and 2001.  Overall, the Wildcats have now appeared in the Mid-Atlantic Division title game  10 times (1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011) since 1998.
