Yale University's Keith Rubin Named October 24 New England Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Yale University's Keith Rubin (Sr, Bethesda, Md.) held opponents to 4.5 goals per game to lead his team to the 2011 New England Division and claim the division's Player of the Week award.
Facing Wesleyan University (11-5 W), Boston University (12-4 W) and Boston College (8-4 W) before meeting Dartmouth College (6-5 W) in the division title game, he improved throughout the weekend to aid the Bulldogs in claiming the program's third consecutive New England Division title.
Rubin continued a shutout effort until the 3:40 mark of the third period against Boston University, while allowing only two goals in the second half of the title game victory over Dartmouth.
In addition, his accurate passing from cage jumpstarted the Yale counterattack and allowed the Bulldogs' offense to take advantage of multiple goal scoring opportunities throughout the weekend.
The title marks the sixth for Yale (2003, 2004, 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011) in 11 New England Division championship game appearances (1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2009, 2010, 2011).
