BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) releases the 2012 Men's National Collegiate Club Great Lakes Division schedule.

Unlike the other divisions which feature multiple weeks of regular season competition, the Great Lakes' teams will have only one tournament to establish the field's order for the championship. 

On Saturday-Sunday, September 29-30 at the University of Notre Dame the host Fighting Irish, Grand Valley State University, Loyola University (Ill.), Miami University (Ohio), Ohio University, The Ohio State University, University of Chicago, University of Dayton and University of Illinois-Chicago will clash in an 18-contest event to set the field for the nine-team Great Lakes Division Championship on Saturday-Sunday, October 27-28 at Dayton in Dayton, Ohio.

The victor of the division championship will earns the Great Lakes' automatic berth to the National Collegiate Club Championship set for November 9-11 at the Osborn Aquatic Center in Corvallis, Ore.

The history of the division has been dominated by Grand Valley State as the Lakers have taken eight of the past 10 crowns since the Great Lakes Division was reformed in 2002. One of a few divisions to split and then remerge, the Great Lakes Division divided in 1999 into the Great Plains and Heartland Divisions before reforming in 2002 with mostly new members.

Four teams have captured Great Lakes Division crowns as Iowa State University (1997), Western Illinois University (1998), GVSU (2010, 2008, 2007, 2006, 2005, 2004, 2003, 2002) and Illinois-Chicago (2009, 2011) hold championship plaques.
