Indiana University's Cassie Wyckoff Named February 7 Western Division Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Indiana University goalie Cassie Wyckoff (Jr., Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos) recorded 48 saves, five steals and two assists in 166 minutes over five games against nationally-ranked opponents in California to earn the February 7 Women's Varsity Western Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
Facing No. 16 University of California-Davis (15-13 W OT) before travelling to the Stanford Invitational for contests against No. 5 University of Hawaii (8-3 L), No. 4 University of California-Los Angeles (9-4 L), No. 2 University of Southern California (9-1 L) and No. 9 San Jose State University (10-6 L), the No. 15-ranked Hoosiers leaned heavily on their goaltender.
She had six saves, two steals, and an assist during the win at UC Davis, before posting three double-digit save performances in the remaining four games of the weekend.
Wyckoff collected 12 stops against USC, before tallying 10 saves and a pair of steals in the loss to Hawaii.
Following a nine save performance with a steal against UCLA, she netted 11 saves and an assist against San Jose State.
The double-digit save performances raised the number of games she has posted 10 or more blocks this season to five as she now has 83 stops and 10 steals to date this season.
