No. 18 Princeton University Stops George Washington & Brown

PRINCETON, N.J. -- The Princeton University women's water polo team opened the 2011 season with a pair of wins at home over George Washington University and Brown University on the opening day of the Princeton Invitational at DeNunzio Pool.

Sophomore Brittany Zwirner led all Tigers with four goals in the two games. She was one of four to score goals in both games along with classmate Rachele Gyorffy, senior Lauren Brunner and freshman Katie Rigler.

Princeton opened the day with a 9-4 win over George Washington in the afternoon. Seven Tigers scored in the win with Zwirner and Gyorffy leading the offense with two goals apiece. Princeton started slow in the win, scoring once to lead 1-0 after a quarter and then held a 3-1 lead at the half.

Junior goalies Kristen Ward and Grace du Pont split the game, with Ward earning the win following a five-save first half. Du Pont made four saves in the second half.
