BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Princeton University goalie Kristen Ward (Jr., Sacramento, Calif./St. Francis) made 26 saves in four games to lead the Tigers to a 3-1 record at the Princeton Invitational and earn the February 14 Women's Varsity Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
She allowed a goal in each of her first two starts in the tournament defeating George Washington University (9-4 W) and Brown University (12-1 W). Against the Colonials of George Washington, she posted five saves with a steal in 16 minutes of action in a season-opening victory. Facing the Bears of Brown, she tacked on seven saves with a steal in 26:35 for the No. 18-ranked Princeton Tigers.
Ward concluded the weekend by contributing eight saves with 10 goals against, an assist and a steal in 39 minutes against Colorado State University (11-10 W OT SD), before racking up six saves and six goals against in 32 minutes versus No. 19 University of the Pacific (6-4 L).
