George Washington University's Charlotte Schou Named February 21 Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week

Charlotte Schou

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- George Washington University goalie Charlotte Schou (Sr., Miami, Fla./Miami Country Day) amassed 18 saves and three steals, including 10 blocks with a pair of steals in a victory over Bucknell University, to earn the February 21 Women's Varsity Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.

Facing Bucknell University and Wagner College, she led the Colonials to a split as GW defeated the Bison (10-8 W) and fell to the Seahawks (8-7 L) at the University of Maryland Invitational.

Against Bucknell, she helped George Washington improve to 14-25 all-time against the Bison and snap a three-game losing streak dating back to her own 12-11 OT victory in the 2009 Southern Division third place game.

She concluded the week with eight saves and a steal against Wagner.

The award marks the third weekly honor from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) during Schou's career as she earned the March 29 and April 5 Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week awards last season.
