Utica College Drops Connecticut College, Falls to Chatham in CWPA Division III Opening Weekend
GROVE CITY, Pa. -- The Utica College women's water polo team defeated Connecticut College, 11-10, as freshman Evelyn Kurzac netted a career-high eight goals and senior Amanda Sulicz added three goals of her own. In the Pioneers second game of the day, Utica fell to Chatham University by a 16-8 final score.
Alyssa Torri posted two assists in the Pioneers win over Connecticut, while Kristyn Galbraith and Rebecca Morgan each tallied one helper. Jacqueline Braca and Galbraith added two steals a piece for UC.
Senior goalie Kera Lagdon made six saves and tallied one steal in net for the Pioneers.
In game two, Kurzac came back with four goals and Sulicz netted two of her own but it was not enough to fend off the Cougars as UC's record fell to 2-2 on the year.
Galbraith and Torri totaled one goal a piece to close out the scoring for UC. Sophomore Sarah Parker tallied a team-high three steals for the Pioneers.
Langdon made 12 saves in net for Utica against Chatham.
