Indiana University's Nicole Redder Named March 7 Western Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Nicole Redder (Sr., Grandville, Mich./Jenison) of No. 17-nationally ranked Indiana University tallied seven goals, four assists, seven earned exclusions, four steals and three field blocks in a 3-0 weekend at Princeton University to garner honors as the March 7 Women's Varsity Western Division Player of the Week.

Facing Princeton (9-8 W), Marist College (13-2 W) and No. 20-nationally ranked the University of Maryland (13-8 W), Redder and the No. 17-ranked Hoosiers outscored the opposition 35-18 to improve to 7-8 on the season.

She scored at least two goals in each of the three games, beginning with a two marker effort in a one-goal victory over the Princeton Tigers.  In addition to her scoring prowess, she tacked on three steals, three earned kick-outs and an assist against Princeton.

Redder recorded another two goals in an 11-score victory over Marist, to go along with an assist, a field block and an earned exclusion. 

Against Maryland, she recorded her second hat-trick of the season to key the Hoosiers to a five-goal victory versus the Maryland Terrapins.  In addition, she racked up a pair of assists, a steal, two field blocks and three kick-outs drawn in the contest.

Overall, her performance helped Redder moved in fourth on the all-time career goals list at Indiana as her 145 career strikes surpassed the mark of Deb Simone (139).

The team leader in scoring with 20 goals this season, she currently has 29 points with nine assists and 18 steals.
