Indiana University's Cassie Wyckoff Named March 14 Western Division Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Indiana University's Cassie Wyckoff (Jr., Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos) posted 31 saves, four assists and seven goals allowed in 124 minutes of work to earn the March 14 Women's Varsity Western Division Defensive Player of the Week award.

The award marks the second week in a row that Wyckoff has been honored by the league as she also picked up the March 7 Western Division Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Facing three nationally ranked teams during the No. 17-nationally ranked Hoosiers' four games at the San Diego State University Aztec Invitational, Wyckoff posted victories over California State Universty-Bakersfield (11-2 W), No. 9 San Diego State (4-3 W) and No. 18 University of California-San Diego (9-4 W).

Her only defeat of the week came versus No. 4 University of Hawaii (3-2 L) in a game during which she posted seven saves and a steal in nearly leading the Hoosiers to an upset win.

She racked up nine saves in 28 minutes during the victory over Cal State-Bakersfield, while posting two steals and a pair of long assists on counter-attacks.

Wyckoff put together her seventh double-digit save outing of the season against SDSU, as she turned aside 10 shots and grabbed 10 steals.

Against UC-San Diego to conclude the weekend, she netted five saves and two steals along with a pair of assists in a five goal victory.

For the season, Wyckoff has 158 saves and 23 steals to raise her career totals to 562 saves in 1,895 minutes.
