ERIE, Pa. -- Gannon University netted 10 goals against No. 15-ranked Hartwick College, but came up short as the Hawks earned a 15-10 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Western Division win at the Carneval Athletic Pavilion.
Hartwick held a 6-2 advantage after the first quarter, with five different Hawks scoring during the period. Gannon won the second quarter, out-scoring Hartwick 3-2, but trailed 8-5 at the half.
The two teams were even with three goals each during the third quarter, but Gannon couldn't make up any ground in the fourth as Hartwick out-scored Gannon 4-2 to earn the 15-10 win.
Six different Lady Knights scored in the game, led by Colleen Harriger's (Erie, Pa./McDowell) three scores. Molly Andrews (Tustin, Calif./Tustin) and Bailey Gadd (Golden, Colo./Lakewood) each added two goals in the loss. Janelle Bartman (Darien, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) recorded nine blocks in goal for the Lady Knights.
Gannon falls to 1-13 this season and 0-3 in CWPA matches. Hartwick improves to 14-6 this season and 2-0 in conference action.
