BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Indiana University's Shae Fournier (Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada/Grant Park) made history by claiming her seventh weekly honor from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) as she was named the March 21 Women's Varsity Western Division Defensive Player of the Week.

The first player in league history to earn the awards trifecta (Player of the Week, Rookie of the Week, Defensive Player of the Week) in a single season, she previously garnered the January 24, February 7, February 28 and March 14 Western Division Rookie of the Week honors, along with the February 28 and March 14 Western Division Co-Player of the Week.

It also marks the second consecutive week that Fournier has made history in the CWPA as she became the first female athlete in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) who has accomplished the feat of earning both the Rookie and Player of the Week awards in the same week more than once during a season last week.

In addition, her seventh award marks the most by a single player during a season in the history of the league.

Last week, she posted eight goals, six assists, six field blocks, five drawn kickouts and 12 steals in leading the No. 13-nationally ranked Hoosiers to a 5-0 mark at the California Baptist University Lancer Invitational.

She opened the weekend with five steals, a field block, two goals and a drawn kickout in a 11-6 defeat of the host Cal Baptist Lancers, before posting two steals and a field block in a 12-6 win over Siena College. Fournier added a goal, with two assists and two earned kickouts against the Saints.

Against Concordia University, she grabbed four steals, while also registering three goals, three assistant and a drawn kickout, in a 13-6 victory, while adding a field block with two goals and a kickout drawn in a 14-6 win against No. 20-ranked Iona College.

In the weekend finale, she racked up a trio of field blocks, one steal and an assist to finish the trip and key Indiana to a 13-10 victory over the University of Redlands.

Fournier has 14 multi-steal performances in her freshman campaign, including nine contests with three or more takeaways. For the season, she has team-highs of 26 assists, 49 steals, and 22 field blocks, while also recording 31 goals and 12 earned kickouts.
