Spooner Breaks PSU-Behrend Single Game Scoring Record in Pair of Losses to Notre Dame & Mercyhurst

GROVE CITY, Pa. -- MaryEllen Spooner scored 11 goals for Penn State-Behrend College netting a program single game record nine goals against Notre Dame College (Ohio) in a 15-9 loss and adding two more against Mercyhurst College in a 9-3 defeat at Grove City College.

The Lions fell to Mercyhurst in the opening game and dropped a 15-9 decision to Notre Dame in the nightcap.  Spooner, the current Collegiate Water Polo Association Women's Varsity Division III Player of the Week, also caused five drawn ejections and five steals against Notre Dame. In the last match against Notre Dame last weekend, she tied the school record with six goals only to break it and finish with 15 goals against the Falcons within a seven-day period.

Freshman Rachael Ragen scored against Mercyhurst, while Elizabeth Causgrove tallied seven saves versus Notre Dame.
