BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Hartwick College goalie Jessica Dorman (Jr., Auckland, New Zealand/Diocesan) posted 48 saves against five nationally-ranked opponents during a West Coast trip to earn the April 4 Women's Varsity Western Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
The award marks the fourth of her career and the first of the 2011 season as she previously garnered a trio of honors in 2010 by picking up the February 8 Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, along with the April 12 Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week. The Collegiate Water Polo Association dissolved the Northern Division prior to the 2011 season with Hartwick moving over to the Western Division for one season.
She recorded a trio 10+ save performances while on the Golden Coast for the No. 16-ranked Hawks, including a high of 14 saves in a 16-9 victory over Division III No. 3-ranked Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges. In addition, she tacked on 11 stops in a 14-5 victory over Division III No. 5-ranked Pomona-Pitzer Colleges and 11 saves in a 14-7 loss to No. 13-ranked University of California-Irvine.
Further, she stopped seven shots against No. 3 the University of Southern California (19-4 L) and recorded five blocks against No. 10 Long Beach State University (8-6 W) to help Hartwick wrap-up its spring trip with a 7-2 mark and improve to 21-8 on the season.
