EUCLID, Ohio -- The Gannon University women's water polo team jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first quarter at Notre Dame College (Ohio), eventually winning by a 12-6 final in the non-conference match.
Gannon shutout the Falcons in the first quarter, holding a 4-0 lead after the first eight minutes. The Lady Knights added four more goals in the second quarter while Notre Dame scored once, putting Gannon ahead 8-1 at the half.
Notre Dame had a 2-1 advantage in the third quarter before each team netted three scores in the final quarter, giving Gannon the win by a 12-6 final score.
Katelyn Jacobs (Brookfield, Ill./Lyons Township) led Gannon with three scores while Colleen Harriger (Erie, Pa. / McDowell), Molly Andrews (Tustin, Calif./Tustin) and Kelly Steininger (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) all had two goals. Harriger also recorded seven steals for the Lady Knights.
Janelle Bartman (Darien, Ill./Adlai E. Stevenson) and Libbie Guina (Houston, Texas/Clear Brook) each had four saves after splitting time in goal.
