University of Maryland's Allison Campbell Named April 18 Southern Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Allison Campbell (So., Maple Ridge, B.C./Maple Ridge Secondary School) of the University of Maryland posted eight goals over four games in helping the Terrapins claim the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division title to earn the April 18 Women's Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week award.
The accolode marks the second weekly award presented to Campbell this year by the league office as she previously garnered notice as the March 7 Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week.
In a 4-0 weekend for the Terrapins at home versus George Washington University (13-5 W), No. 17 Princeton University (7-5 W), Brown University (13-10 W) and Harvard University (12-10 W), Cambell factored in all four contests to aid the Terrapins in concluding the regular season with a 4-0 mark in Southern Division play.
She netted a game-high three goals against George Washington to open the weekend, before tallying a pair of markers, including the game-winner, against Princeton to put the Terrapins into consideratiton for the No. 4 seed at the 2011 CWPA Women's Eastern Championship.
In the title-clinching victory against Harvard, she scored once as Maryland claimed its first division crown since 2009.
Campbell wrapped up the weekend with two goals in a three-goal victory over Brown.
