BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Kate Woods (Fr., La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla) of Brown University recorded 13 goals, two assists, three steals and three ejections drawn in four games at the University of Maryland to garner the April 18 Women's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.
The nod marks the fourth time Woods has earned a weekly award from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) league office this season as she previously notched the April 4 Southern Division Player of the Week along with the February 28 and March 28 Southern Division Rookie of the Week awards. She shared the February 28 accolade with Katie Rigler (Fr., Fullerton, Calif./Rosary) of Princeton University.
Her best game of the week came in the Bears' most important contest as she tallied six goals, an assist, a steal and an ejection drawn as Brown downed George Washington University 12-10 to clinch consideration for the No. 7 seed for the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship.
She tacked on two goals and two ejections drawn in an 11-6 loss to No. 13-ranked Indiana University, in addition to contributing a goal, two steals and a field block in a 6-5 loss to No. 17 Princeton University.
Woods wrapped up the weekend with four goals and an assist in a 13-10 loss to the University of Maryland to raise her team-leading totals to 78 goals and 18 assists.
