FLUSHING, N.Y. -- The Queens College men’s and women’s swimming and diving, and men’s water polo teams recently gave back to the local community, as they played host to a novice swim meet on March 19. All of the $275 in proceeds were donated to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
Roughly 48 participants and 65 spectators took part in the evening’s festivities, as IS 227 and the Queens College Competitive Team competed for first-place medals and second- thru sixth-place ribbons. Nearly all of the competitors took home accolades in some variety.
"(The event) was a win-win situation for the participants, spectators and athletes," explained QC head women’s swimming and diving coach, Alicia Lampasso-Dillon. "We collected $275 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, almost every swimmer earned a medal or ribbon, and the student-athletes enjoyed working with the children and encouraging them in their races."
