21 Water Polo Student-Athletes Named Mercyhurst College Scholar-Athletes

ERIE, Pa. -- 21 members of the men's and women's water polo teams were among 284 studdent-athletes to earn notice as Mercyhurst College Scholar-Athletes for the 2010-11 academic year.

Students named to the annual scholar-athlete list must own a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. This year's total represents more than half (50.6%) of the 561 student-athletes involved in 24 varsity sports at Mercyhurst College.

"The dedication that our student-athletes demonstrate in the classroom is evident in these numbers," said Mercyhurst Director of Athletics Joe Kimball.

"Our kids strive to put their best foot forward when it comes to athletic competition, as evidenced this past year by the accomplishments that Mercyhurst had athletically. It was our best overall year in school history. But, these numbers prove that our student-athletes feel that the classroom is just as important a venue."
