Mercyhurst's Sekulski Named September 20 CWPA Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Mercyhurst College goalie Andy Sekulski (Sr., Mohnton, Pa./Governor Mifflin) made 46 saves in 102:44 of playing time to lead the Lakers to a 2-1 record at the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship at Harvard University and earn the September 20 Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
A 2008 and 2009 All-America selection, he stopped 19 shots in a 5-4 sudden death overtime loss to Fordham University, before turning aside 16 shots against Harvard University (11-3) and 11 scoring attempts versus Iona College (9-8) in the ninth place game.
On the year, he has 80 saves with 52 goals allowed in 231 minutes of play.
