Bucknell's Hyden Named September 20 CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Bucknell University's Richie Hyden (Sr., Melbourne, Australia/Greenwich (Conn.)) registered seven goals, four assists, two steals and four ejections drawn to lead the Bison to a fourth place finish at the 2010 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship and earn the September 20 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division Player of the Week award.
The only Bison to score at least one goal in all three games over the weekend championship at Harvard Uniersity's Blodgett Pool, he netted four goals with an assist and an ejection drawn in the Bison's 21-3 opening victory versus George Washington University. He followed the performance with pairs of goals, assists and ejections drawn with a steal in an 11-7 semifinal loss to Brown University, before wrapping up the weekend with a goal, an assist, a steal and an ejection drawn in a 9-6 third-place game defeat at the hands of No. 17 ranked Princeton University.
Hyden, who leads the team in goals (23) and is tied for the lead in points (32), graces the program's career goals (9th, 203), assists (9th, 133) and points (10th, 336) top-10 lists. He is the first Bison to join any of those lists since 2000.
Ranked No. 20 in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association National Top 20 Poll, Bucknell is now 8-4 on the season.
