PSU-Behrend's Shapter Named October 4 Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Pennsylvania State University-The Behrend College's Brian Shapter (Fr., Erie, Pa./McDowell) made 21 saves in three games, including a 10 save performance in a 12-11 victory over Washington & Jefferson College, to earn the October 4 Southern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.

Against W&J, he turned aside a game high 10 shots to help the Behrend Lions snap a 29-game losing streak to the Presidents dating back to the Penn State program's beginning in 2000, including an 0-14 mark since the 2005 season.  

In addition, Shapter chipped in five saves against Mercyhurst College (18-6 L) and six versus Gannon University (16-7 L) as the Behrend Lions moved to 3-11, 2-3 in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division-West Region play.
