LA VERNE, Calif. -- Freshman Nate Little led the George Washington University men's water polo team with nine goals, including five in a 10-9 victory over University of La Verne, to help the Colonials split its final two games at the Claremont Convergence in Southern California.

Little's five goals, including the game-winner with 1:37 left, helped the Colonials salvage a victory from their four-game West Coast swing. GW trailed La Verne, 6-5, entering the fourth quarter, but rallied to tie the score twice then took the lead for good on rookie Daniel Tyner's goal with 2:34 to play. Little made it a 10-8 lead before the Leopards added a goal in the final seconds for the 10-9 final margin.

Tyner finished with two goals, while senior Peter Thomas and sophomores Guy Helman and John Paul Bezerra added one apiece. Sophomore goalkeeper Cameron Illes made nine saves in to earn his sixth win of the season.

In Saturday's finale, GW fell behind Division III No. 2 University of Redlands, 8-3, in the first half and could only make up two goals in the second half in a 12-9 defeat. Little and Tyner led the way with four goals apiece, with Little adding two assists and three steals. Freshman Luke Carrino netted the other goal and Illes made 13 saves.
