BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Brown University goalie Walter Shockley (Fr., Diamond Bar, Calif./Damien) made 31 saves versus at the Northern Division Championship hosted by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology over the weekend to lead the Bears to a runner-up finish and earn the November 8 Northern Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
The November 1 Northern Division Rookie and Defensive Player of the Week, Shockley recorded 12 saves versus Iona College in a 12-6 opening round victory to earn a berth at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship, before contributing eight saves against the host Engineers (9-6 W) to reach the division title game.
Versus No. 14-ranked St. Francis College (14-7 L), he notched 12 stops as the Bears finished as the division runner-up.
Shockley and the Bears will continue the season on November 19-21 at Bucknell University for the CWPA Eastern Championship.
