BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- St. Francis College's Marko Gencic (So., Belgrade, Serbia/Sportska Gimnazija) scored nine goals, including the first and final markers of the tournament, with two steals and field blocks to lead the St. Francis College Terriers to the 2010 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship. For his performance, Gencic earned the November 22 Northern Division Player of the Week award.
Gencic, who also drew a five-meter penalty shot and three ejections during the course of the three-day tournament, contributed in all three games the Terriers played netting a pair of goals versus Division III No. 1-ranked Johns Hopkins University (9-8 W) and four versus No. 18 Bucknell University (10-9 W) before posting a hat-trick with three markers in an 8-4 victory over the No. 15-ranked Midshipmen of the United States Naval Academy for the CWPA Eastern crown.
It marks his second Player of the Week nod of the year as he previously garnered recognition on September 27.
Gencic and the rest of the St. Francis' squad will continue the season next weekend at the University of California in Berkeley, Calif. at the 2010 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men's Water Polo Championship Final Four.
