COLLEGE PARK, Md. - A number of former Maryland water polo players have continued their careers on the professional and international level.
Two former standouts are Elizabeth Hopkins and Jill Lau.
Hopkins is currently playing for Club Esportiu Mediterrani in Madrid. Her team placed second in the Copa de Catalunya and this weekend the squad has its first home game within the Division de Honor. The team will be introduced to the club members at a luncheon.
Lau is a member of the Hong Kong National Team. She was the leading scorer for the team in the Asian Pacific Games which were held in August. Lau may also participate in the Asian Games which are set for November.
A graduate student at the University of Maryland's School of Public Policy, Lau coached the Maryland Men's Club Team to a fifth place finish in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Atlantic Division this year, while also coaching Elizabeth Seton High School.
