Johns Hopkins University's Schofield Named November 22 Southern Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Johns Hopkins University's Ross Schofield (So., Greenwich, Conn/Greenwich) led the Blue Jays with 10 goals and two assists at the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship to earn Second Team All-East honors and pick up the November 22 Southern Division Player of the Week award.
Against eventual Eastern Champion St. Francis College, he posted three goals with a pair of assists in a 9-8 opening round loss. He followed that with a five goal outing, including a five-meter penalty shot score, in an 11-8 win over Fordham University to advance to the fifth place game. He also drew three ejections against the Rams.
In the fifth place game against No. 20 Brown University, he scored twice, drew an ejection and recorded a field block in a 10-5 loss to the Bears as the Blue Jays finished sixth in the championship tournament field.
The award marks the second notice for Schofield in 2010 as he previously picked up accolades as the October 11 Southern Division Player of the Week.
