Dating back to their first title in 1973, the Golden Bears have captured the national title 13 times, and Spieker Aquatics Complex will move to center stage this December 4-5 when Cal hopes to compete for another championship against USC, St. Francis and Loyola Marymount.

These scores reflect competition against four-year institutions and are forwarded to the National Collegiate Athletic Association for use in compiling each program's RPI. Only competition against four-year colleges is compiled to provide an equal basis for each team's ranking in the national polls.

This year’s championship, hosted by the University of California, Berkeley, will be held December 4-5. Ryan Castle Named Hartwick College Women's Water Polo Assistant CoachFormer Arizona State varsity women’s water polo assistant and head men’s club coach Ryan Castle has been hired as assistant coach of Hartwick College’s Division I women’s water polo program, effective immediately. Castle arrives at Hartwick with an extensive coaching background at the club, high school, college, and international level. A native of Cape Town, South Africa, Castle spent the last three seasons working to elevate the Sun Devil water polo programs.
Catching Up with Maryland Water Polo Alums Elizabeth Hopkins & Jill LauA number of former Maryland water polo players have continued their careers on the professional and international level. Two former standouts were Elizabeth Hopkins and Jill Lau. Hopkins is currently playing for Club Esportiu Mediterrani in Madrid. Her team placed second in the Copa de Catalunya and this weekend the squad has its first home game within the Division de Honor. The team will be introduced to the club members at a luncheon. Lau is a member of the Hong Kong National Team. She was the leading scorer for the team in the Asian Pacific Games which were held in August.

Indiana University Releases 2011 Women's Water Polo ScheduleHead coach Barry King has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2011 Indiana University women’s water polo season. The Hoosiers will once again compete against many of the nation’s best throughout the year, beginning with the always difficult field at the Michigan Kick-Off in Ann Arbor on January 22-23. “As has been the case the past few years, the schedule involves contests against all of the best squads in the country,” said King. “I expect that we will see everybody in the top ten that’s not named Indiana University at one point or another.”
CWPA Hall of Fame Member Paul Barren Named to Pennsylvania Swimming Hall of Fame Class of 2011Paul Barren, a 2004 inductee to the Collegiate Water Polo Association Hall of Fame, will join another Hall of Fame as the Pennsylvania Swimming Coaches' Association announced his selection to the Class of 2011 Pennsylvania Swimming Hall of Fame. A water polo official beginning in the early 1970’s for the newly formed Mid Atlantic Conference, he earned FINA rating as an international referee in 1978 and officiated some of the biggest games in the sport.
Two-Time Olympian Brad Schumacher to Host Co-Ed Clinic on November 20 at Bucknell UniversityTwo-time Olympian and Gold Medalist Brad Schumacher, co-founder of Kap 7, will host a water polo clinic on Saturday, November 20 at Bucknell University as part of the 2010 Collegiate Water Polo Association Men's Eastern Championship. Part of the Collegiate Water Polo Association's Eastern Varsity Championship, the clinic is open to all male and female athletes between the ages of 10-18.
