Brown University's Kate Woods Selected as the February 20 Southern Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Kate Woods (So., La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla) of Brown University tallied 15 points and at steals during a perfect weekend for the Bears at the Bison Invitational to earn the February 20 Women's Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week honor.

Woods dented the twine nine times and collected six assists on offense and added four ejections drawn and three field blocks to her eight steals. Woods found pay dirt twice in both opening day contests as Brown knocked off Gannon University (W, 20-6) and Bucknell College (W, 8-7). After scoring once against Marist College (W, 7-5), she exploded for four goals in the tournament finale against Wagner College (W, 12-11).

The award marks the ninth time Woods has earned a weekly award from the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) league office in her career. As a freshman in 2011, she notched honors as February 28 (co-), April 4 and April 25 Southern Division Player of the Week, along with the February 28, March 28, April 18, April 25 and May 2 Southern Division Rookie of the Week awards.
