Brown University's Sarah Presant Named March 12 Southern Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Brown University sophomore Sarah Presant (Poway, Calif./Bishops School) tallied seven goals, seven steals, three assists and two ejections drawn in a 4-0 weekend at the Marist College Red Fox Invitational to earn the March 12 Women's Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week award.

Facing No. 9 University of Michigan (7-5 W), St. Francis College (18-7 W), Iona College (9-3 W) and the host Red Foxes of Marist (5-4 W), Presant found the back of the cage in three of the contests to help the Bears improve to 11-6 on the season.

In the tournament opener against Marist on March 10, she led the team in scoring with two markers in addition to adding a steal and an ejection drawn in a one-goal defeat of the Red Foxes.

Facing perennial Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Western Division contender Michigan later in the day, she did not find the back of the cage, but chipped in two steals and a critical save from the field as the Bears upset the No. 9-ranked Wolverines.  The victory improves Brown to 4-9 all-time against the Maize & Blue and marked the first Bears' victory against the Wolverines since March 18, 2007 in Ann Arbor, Mich.

On Sunday, March 11, she tacked on three goals, two assists and three steals in an 18-7 rout of St. Francis, before wrapping up the weekend with two goals and a steal versus Iona.

The award marks the first in the career of Presant and the second Player of the Week nod for Brown this season after the selection of Kate Woods (So., La Jolla, Calif./La Jolla) on February 20.
