Indiana University's Colleen McNaught Named March 21 Western Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Indiana University freshman Colleen McNaught (Dana Point, Calif./Dana Hills) recorded 10 goals, four assists, four steals, two field blocks, three earned kickouts and drew a five-meter penalty shot in a 3-3 week for the No. 11-ranked Hoosiers to earn honors as the March 10 Women's Varsity Western Division Rookie of the Week.
The award marks the second Rookie of the Week honor of the season for McNaught who previously garnered the January 23 accolade.
Facing Marist College (10-6 W), Wagner College (10-3 W), No. 14 University of Hawaii (11-9 L), No. 19 University of California-San Diego (7-6 L), No. 8 San Diego State University (7-2 L) and Division III No. 3 University of Redlands (14-7 W) at the San Diego State Aztec Invitational, McNaught bumped her season totals to 34 goals, a team high 38 assists, 15 steals, 11 field blocks and 27 earned kickouts.
She opened the weekend with three goals and a pair of kickouts against Marist, before notching a goal, an assist, a steal and a field block versus Redlands. Following a three goal, one assist, one steal and one field block performance versus Hawaii in a narrow two-goal loss, she added a pair of markers, a helper, a steal and a five-meter penalty shot drawn in another tight game against UC-San Diego.
McNaught wrapped up the Hoosiers' time at SDSU by contributing a goal against the host Aztecs and a goal with an assist versus Wagner.
