University of Maryland's Shelby Reyes Garners March 26 Western Division Defensive Player of the Week Honors
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- University of Maryland goalie Shelby Reyes (Sr., Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) turned away 21 shots in nine periods of play on the West Coast to claim the March 26 Women's Varsity Western Division Defensive Player of the Week award.
Reyes opened the week by making 11 saves in three quarters as the Terrapins topped Sonoma State University by a 17-8 final. She closed out the week by recording five saves over four periods in a 10-8 come-from-behind victory against University of the Pacific and added five more stops and two steals in a pair of quarters during an 18-6 rout of Santa Clara University during the Pacific Invitational.
