Macalester College Outlasts Carthage College 12-9 on Day Two of Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III East-vs.-West Tournament

WHEATON, Ill. -- Catherine Flint (Sr., Palo Alto, Calif./Henry Gunn) scored pairs of goals in the first, second, third and fourth periods to finish with a game high eight markers to lead Macalester College to a 12-9 victory over Carthage College in the final game on Day Two of the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Division III East-vs.-West Tournament at Wheaton College's Chrouser Natatorium.

The Scots opened up a 4-0 lead in the first period and never looked back as the Lady Reds closed to within 7-6 with 4:49 left in the third period but could not draw even.

Adrienne Burgin (Fr., Walnut Creek, Calif./Acalanes) chipped in a pair of markers for the Scots, while Sarah Shoemaker (Fr., Saratoga, Calif./St. Francis) and Chloe Kaulas (So., Chicago, Ill./Latin School) tacked on solo strikes to close out the Scots' scorers.

Agnes Wojtas (Jr., Palatine, Ill./Palatine) led Carthage with a trio of goals, while Jackie Knightly (Fr., Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) and Amanda Kuchan (So., Orland Park, Ill./Tinley Park-Andrew) added pairs of markers. Tya Crosse (Fr., Corona, Calif./Rancho Cucamonga) and Kati Pedersen (Sr., Oak Park, Ill. / Oak Park-River Forest) rounded out the Lady Reds' scorers with single tallies.
