University of Maryland's Allison Campbell Named April 2 Western Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Allison Campbell (Jr., Maple Ridge, B.C./Maple Ridge Secondary School) of the University of Maryland scored three goals on four attempts to lead the No. 12-ranked/Western Division frontrunner Terrapins to a 7-6 victory over No. 12/Southern Division regular season champion Princeton University at home in College Park, Md. to earn honors as the April 2 Women's Varsity Western Division Player of the Week.
In a game with potential impact on the seeding for the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship at Brown University, Campbell, who has scored 14 goals during the Terrapins' past four games, chipped in three steals and one kickout drawn to aid Maryland's defense. In addition, she punched in the eventual game-winner during the third period as the Terps had to hold off a late Tigers' rally for the one-goal victory.
The accolade marks the seventh weekly award of Campbell's career and fourthof the 2012 campaign as she garnered the January 30, February 27 and March 26 Western Division Player of the Week awards earlier this season.
