Brown University's Madison Pepper Takes April 30 Southern Division Rookie of the Week Award
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Brown University's Madison Pepper (Fr., Baytown, Texas/Sterling) tallied eight goals in helping the host Bears of Brown University place fourth at the 2012 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern Championship. For her performance, she garnered the Rookie of the Tournament plaque and claims the April 30 Women's Varsity Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.
The recognition marks her second Rookie of the Week nod this year as she previously garnered the March 12 award.
The 2012 CWPA Eastern Championship Rookie of the Tournament, All-Tournament First Team selection and All-Southern Division First Team honoree, Pepper opened the Eastern Tournament with four goals in a 16-6 victory over Gannon University. She added the game-winner with 3:22 remaining in the fourth quarter for her only score in a 5-4 win over No. 12 Indiana University before contributing a pair of goals in a 7-6 overtime loss to eventual Eastern Champion/No. 13 Princeton University in the semifinals.
Facing No. 10 University of Michigan in the third place game, she notched a goal in a 10-7 loss as the Bears placed fourth in the tournament for the Bears' best finish at the Eastern Championship since a fourth place mark in 2004 at Bucknell University.
