Princeton University's Katie Rigler Receives April 30 Southern Division Player of the Week Honors

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- 2012 Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Southern Division and Eastern Championship Most Valuable Player Katie Rigler (So., Fullerton, Calif./Rosary) of No. 13-ranked Princeton University completes a week of honors by claiming the April 30 Women's Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week award after powering the Tigers to the CWPA Eastern Championship at Brown University's Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center over the weekend.

A 2012 Southern Division and Eastern Championship First Team honoree, Rigler registered seven goals over three games as thte Tigers stopped Harvard University (9-6 W), Brown University (7-6 W OT) and No. 14 University of Maryland (7-6 W) to capture Princeton's second women's Eastern Championship.

She opened the tournament with four goals against the Crimson, contributed a goal with three steals versus the Bears and wrapped up the championship with a pair of markers versus the Terrapins in the title tilt.

The award marks the sixth of her career and the fourth Player of the Week nod as she earned the February 28, March 14 and April 4 Rookie of the Week and March 14 Player of the Week awards in the Southern Division last season, while adding honors as the March 5 and April 9 Player of the Week earlier in the 2012 campaign.

The Southern Division regular season and postseason champions prior to claiming the program's first Eastern Championship in women's water polo since 2000, the Tigers earn the conference's automatic bid to the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship at San Diego State University's Aztec Aquaplex on May 11-13.
