Gyorffy, Soroka & Zwirner Named 2013 Princeton University Women's Water Polo Captains

PRINCETON, N.J. -- Princeton University head women's water polo coach Luis Nicolao announced the team captains for the 2013 season. The Tiger tri-captains will be rising seniors Rachele Gyorffy (Sacramento, Calif./Rio Americano), Saranna Soroka (Redondo Beach, Calif. /Chadwick School) and Brittany Zwirner (Santa Ana, Calif./Foothill).

"I am excited for all three of these players. They will all bring different leadership qualities to the team. I know we are all excited for next season and these ladies will do a great job of leading the team," said Nicolao.

In 2012, the trio was integral in helping guide the Tigers to the Southern Division and Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Eastern championships, and the program's first-ever appearance in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Championship. Princeton opened the year riding a 14-game winning streak and boasted its best record in program history at 29-6.

Attacker Gyorffy saw action in 31 games, tallying 24 steals, 18 assists, 11 goals and nine ejections drawn. Center Soroka played in 29 games, starting 24. She scored 41 goals and made 35 steals, seven assists and six blocks. Attacker Zwirner started 21 of 30 games played in, making 46 steals, 30 goals, eight assists and five blocks.
