Terriers Jump Into Northern Division Title Hunt as No. 20 St. Francis College Bites No. 18 Brown University and Connecticut College

FLUSHING MEADOWS, N.Y. -- No. 20-ranked St. Francis College defeated Connecticut College, 21-3, and No. 18 Brown University, 16-7, at Flushing Meadow Pool in Flushing, N.Y.

Against Connecticut College, the Terriers outscored the Camels 14-1 over the first half. Sophomore goalkeeper Igor Mladenovic started the contest and recorded four saves. Later in the second half, Mladenovic was able to record a pair of goals. In relief, Luka Raic made nine saves

Senior Richard Polgar led the team with four goals, while sophomore Marko Dzigurski notched three and the quartet of senior Nemanja Simonovic, junior Josip Jurcevic, senior Tamas Toth and sophomore Bosko Stankovic each tallied two goals apiece in the victory.

In the second match of the morning, the Terriers hosted No. 18 Brown in a match-up of the top-two ranked teams in the Northern Division. In the first quarter, Brown took an early 2-0 lead after goals from James McNamara and Grant Villenevue. At the 5:29 mark, St. Francis notched its first goal as Vuk Vujosevic was able to find space and rattle one past goalkeeper Andrew Brown.

The second quarter was dominated by St. Francis. After allowing a goal to even the match at three, the Terriers scored three straight to take a 6-3 halftime lead.

The Terriers opened up the third quarter with a goal from Marko Gencic at the 4:46 to extend the Terrier lead to 7-3. St. Francis scored four consecutive goals to extend the lead to 10-4.

Brown cut the Terrier lead to five, at 11-6 with a goal from Chris Cullen with twelve seconds remaining in the quarter. It was the closest that the visitors were as the Terriers were able to record the final three goals of the match to seal the victory.

Mladenovic was able to make 17 saves against Brown, including three off a penalty shot and two rebounded attempts that Mladenovic was able to swat away to get the Terrier fans involved in the match.

Aleksandar Pantic and Filip Sasic each scored four goals, while Marko Gencic added three in the Terriers' victory.
